The Shack. It Became My Shack

I read this book in a day and a half. I realized half way through it became my shack. To see God, to see Jesus, to see the Holy Spirit in this light made so much sense. To see the views of church, religion, how we burden ourselves with religious rules, the views of criminals, the views of those who hurt you and you hurting yourself by unforgiveness, seeing God with a sense of humor and joy.
This book opens the heart and mind of the reader to a healing, even when you think you are just fine like I did. It opened a flood of tears that were collected and changed my heart.
People have been talking to me for over 4 months about getting the book. I just couldn’t read the words of a man in pain due to the loss of his daughter. I wasn’t ready to imagine it being my child. I do that when I read. I try and place myself in the character and what I would do. I feel the pain they feel. The story only talks about the kidnapping for a chapter and then the shack comes into view.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has been faced with the tradegy of a loss. This book answers the question of where God is when the world suffers pain. It’s for anyone who knows God and has seemed to become so busy in their life that they have not allowed Him to be center of it. It brings you back to what is REALLY important. It shows you how to return to love and what love really is. How God sees us.
